Equipment tracking

The Equipment section lets you log what kit you own, how much you have, and where it's currently deployed. At a glance you can see how many items are available before a session so there are no last-minute surprises.

Adding an item

  1. Go to Equipment in the nav bar.
  2. Fill in the Add item form at the top — name, category, total quantity, and condition.
  3. Click Add item. The item appears in the inventory table immediately.

The Category field is optional but useful for filtering — for example "Striking", "Groundwork", "Safety", "Props".

Assigning items

Open any item by clicking its name. The Assign form lets you deploy a quantity to:

  • Room — kit stored permanently in a room (e.g. 10 pads kept in the main hall).
  • Event — kit allocated for a specific camp or event.
  • General use — in circulation but not tied to a specific place.

The Available column on the list page updates immediately. If it hits zero, the button disables so you can't over-assign.

Returning items

When assigned kit comes back, open the item detail page and click Return next to the active assignment. The quantity becomes available again instantly.

Retiring an item

Worn-out or decommissioned items should be set to Retired rather than deleted. This keeps your history intact. Open the item, click Retire item at the bottom of the edit form. Retired items still appear in the list with a grey pill so you can see when you last had them.

Tracking summary

The three numbers on each item detail page — Total / Assigned / Available — give you an instant snapshot. The Available count turns red when it reaches zero so it stands out on the list page.
